Gary Barlow announces new musical, The Girls

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth are to stage their new musical The Girls in January 2016.

Announcing their new show in Burnsall Village Hall in the Yorkshire Dales, Gary Barlow and Tim Firth confirmed the musical comedy will appear at The Lowry between 13 and 30 January 2016. Tickets are on sale from The Lowry.

Inspired by the true-life story of the Calendar Girls (which was adapted into the movie of the same name), The Girls is a new take on this story, exploring the effects of the Calendar Girls’ success on their families and their small Yorkshire village.

Writers and friends of 25 years, Gary Barlow and Tim Firth both grew up in Rylstone, the same village where the story is set.

Gary, as the lead singer and songwriter for Take That, has written 14 number one singles. He is six-times winner of the Ivor Novello Award and has sold over 50 million records worldwide.

Tim, who has won the Olivier Award, has also won the UK Theatre Award for Best Musical and Best Play and the Comedy Film Award for Calendar Girls.
