From this year’s Emmys, it seems video on demand and TV on demand are thriving! TV shows that once couldn’t cover the costs of hitting broadcast TV stations are now being nurtured carefully by VOD services. Netflix, Amazon and Hulu are leading with some of the best TV at the moment – with the ability to take risks in what they produce.
With that in mind, here’s our list of must-watch VOD for September – mostly TV, but with some movies thrown in for good measure.
Dancing with the Stars: Season 23 premiere (Hulu, September 13)
Combining our joint loves of celebrities and talent shows, this is a fun show you can watch with your mum!
Extremis (Netflix, September 13)
Keep your eyes out for this exquisite show on Netflix. We can’t wait for the next series already!
Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (Hulu, September 15)
Well, the next movie is all set to grace our screens, so why not brush up on the story so far? Just ignore Renee’s terrible accent.
The White Helmets (Netflix)
First responders risk their lives to save others amid the rubble of Syria.
The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years (Hulu)
If you love the original boy band from Liverpool, then you’ll love this. It’s an interesting look at life on the road for one of the world’s biggest pop groups.
The West Wing: Seasons 1-7 (Netflix)
If you missed it the first time round, catch The West Wing in its entirety and settle in for some serious binge TV!
Fleabag (Amazon; also BBC iPlayer)
This is one of our favourite comedies to come from the BBC in a long time! It’s also hitting Amazon for those who don’t want to pay for the licence fee. It’s dark, delicious and dirty – in other words, perfect!
