Frozen – See it for the Music

Disney music is my childhood, whether it be Mary Poppins or The Lion King.

Disney’s Frozen is to be released on the 6th of December in the UK and Ireland and will be guaranteed to be full of great songs. Here are four reasons why:

Reason One – The Casting

Voice actors for the movie include Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff. If you have to ask yourself who they are – shame on you. Idina and Jonathan worked together on Glee season one; as Rachel’s mother and Rachel’s love interest from the rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline, respectively. Not only have they been great on television, but they have major credits for work on the stage.

In 1996 Idina starred in Rent as Maureen and eventually the film version. She also played Elphaba in Wicked, winning a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. This lady has a fantastic tone to her voice. If you want to see her in action, watch the clip from Rent below.

Jonathan Groff is best known for playing the lead in Spring Awakening alongside Lea Michele. This man is one hundred percent gay and is dating Zachary Quinto. The Spring Awakening cast won a Grammy for the Best Musical Show album, in which Jonathan led the majority of the songs.

This man is a real charmer, very funny and has an amazing vocal range. If you want to hear more, enjoy the video that follows.

Reason Two – Demi Lovato

Promotional singles for movies can waver in their quality. Demi Lovato has done a fair few in her career, from ‘Gift of a Friend for Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure to ‘Me, Myself and Time’ to promote Sonny With a Chance.

Despite being on Glee and X Factor USA, promoting an album, recording her music video for ‘Neon Lights’, she has managed to bring out new single ‘Let it Go’ for Frozen. The video is dynamic and dramatic in style, mixed with clips from the movie. Demi’s voice is on point as usual and she could easily be the Disney Princess to rule all.

Reason Three – The Songs

Great news is that some of the songs in the movie will be written by Robert Lopez. For those of you who do not know who he is, he co-created musicals, Book of Mormon and Avenue Q, two of the funniest shows that have been on Broadway.

Reason Four – Disney NEVER goes wrong

Disney have a back-catalogue of success after success of children’s films that, for me, never waver in quality. What I want to know is why Disney has not done this already? Surely The Snow Queen is one of the greatest stories to make a musical movie about!

If you will not take my word for it, watch the trailer.
