German electro pop duo Juno Im Park’s dance version of ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, featuring Hannah Trigwell is certainly a song you’ll all know the words to. Yes, you’ve guessed correctly, it is in fact a cover of the Rick Astley classic. The 1987 track is always making some sort of come back, but this time it has been reincarnated in a way that you won’t quite get over. Remember when Cascada covered Savage Gardens’ Truly Madly Deeply? Yes, it’s very similar to that but unfortunately slightly worse. That might be to do with the random chimes you’ll hear throughout that will remind you of Toploader’s classic, Dancing in the Moonlight. You’ll be lured in by the chilled dance vibe that opens the track and feel that the title looks familiar, but when you can’t work out why you know the words and the penny drops, you will be left wishing you’d been Rick rolled.
Not one for the faint hard or for die hard Rick Astley fans, but definitely worth an attempt if you appreciate all things that are loosely related to Rick Astley (all distant semantic relations accepted) and you like a bit of dance music. Go on, give it a listen.
