Drake’s ‘One Dance’ stormed to the top of the charts to become the kind of smash that could only come from the ‘Hotline Bling’ singer. Fellow Toronto natives ROMES have reworked this funky, summery track with grimy synths and their own trademark indie edge. This is the first teaser of new music from ROMES after the release of their highly celebrated breakthrough debut EP Believe, which has over a million Spotify plays of Spotify.
‘Being a Toronto-based band, we’ve always had a soft spot for Drake, so we wanted to create a version of “One Dance” that stayed true to our sound,’ says frontman Jacob Alexander.
Having listened to a variety of covers of the track, this isn’t my favourite (I quite like one of the dancehall versions that have been floating around on YouTube), but its certainly one of the most interesting reworks. Definitely give it a listen.
