LA alt-rockers Rooney have released their new single ‘Why’, featuring admired French actress and musician Soko. Together they have created an indie-pop love song. On first listen, they reminded me of a more chilled version of Alphabeat crossed with a faint splash of Catatonia. I pleased to say they don’t give off the awkward brother-sister vibes of that duo that were on X Factor one time, instead it’s just mellow and chill. If mellow and chill floats your boat, definitely give this a listen.
‘Why’ is the second single from the upcoming new album Washed Away, which was released on 29 July. ‘Why’ was also ‘Record of the Week’ on Edith Bowman’s breakfast show on Virgin Radio, and follows the euphoric single ‘My Heart Beats 4 U’, the band’s first release since 2010’s Eureka.
