This past Friday, rapper Mykki Blanco took to social media to reveal he was HIV+. He posted the following message on his Facebook page:
‘I’ve been HIV Positive since 2011, my entire career. fuck stigma and hiding in the dark, this is my real life. I’m healthy I’ve toured the world 3 times but I’ve been living in the dark, It’s time to actually be as punk as I say I am.’
The post received over 10,000 likes as fans flooded the comment section with support and applause for the rapper’s bravery.
Blanco goes on to say that the music industry will not like his admission, so he wants to make his transition into the art world.

Mykki made a joke about the reveal the next day on Facebook regarding his followers’ reactions, possibly in an attempt to poke fun at a vulnerable moment. Nothing else has been said about this since the time of the rapper’s Facebook post.
