Jerry Williams, the 19-year old Portsmouth chanteuse has just revealed her brand new single ‘Cold Beer’, taken from her upcoming EP of the same name.
Jerry, who has already been named The Portsmouth Guide Award for Best Solo Performer of 2015, has a retro take on narrative disco pop. ‘Cold Beer’ sports the playful songwriting and charming vocals she has become known for in her home town.
Jerry has hit the ground running with her live performances – having taken the stage with Maverick Sabre, The Hoosiers, and Nathan Sykes (ex-The Wanted), with a run of shows at this year’s Great Escape Festival.
‘Cold Beer’ feels very British and very summery, with a video that reflects the humorous lyrics, as Jerry embarks on a string of unsuccessful dates, while showing off an array of striking vintage outfits (all of them her own).
Jerry already penned tracks with Newton Faulkner, Carey Willets from Athlete, Jim Duguid (Paulo Nutini, Alex Clare) and Dan Carey (Miles Kane, Nick Mulvey, Sia).
She says, ‘I would happily write songs all day, everyday, forever.’ She counts among her inspirations Coldplay, Vampire Weekend and Slow Club.
Jerry Williams will be playing three London shows, including her EP launch show at Camden Barfly and a support slot with Rixton at Thorpe Park’s very own Island Beats shows.
Cold Beer is out 21 August.
