Former world number one golfer Rory McIlroy has reportedly moved on fairly quickly from the break-up of his engagement to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, with the Northern Irishman stepping out with model/actress/singer Nadia Forde. While the 25-year old is still coming in for plenty of criticism for calling off his engagement to the Dane with the invites already on their way to the guests ahead of the September date, McIlroy has sought comfort in the obvious charms of his new lady.
Despite the obvious pressures that come with holding down three careers, the model/actress/singer appears to have made time in her schedule to charm the golf star, and the two are said to be enjoying each other’s company. While it remains to be seen how long McIlroy’s latest relationship will last, the golf sensation’s fans will be hoping he is focused on matters on the course ahead of an action-packed remainder of 2014.
McIlroy had been hoping to be making the headlines for his actions on the golf course this year after a dismal 2013. Not only did the Northern Irishman struggle throughout the year with his form, McIlroy was in the golf news for his off-court issues rather than his performances, with a number of management and contractual issues clearly playing a part in his disappointing year. While this season has been more successful on the course, with McIlroy heading into this month’s Open Championship among the Betfair favourites, the two-time major winner’s reputation has taken a huge hit for the way he has handled the end of his relationship with Wozniacki.
But before we all start feeling too sorry for Caroline, the Dane is rumoured to have sought comfort in the particularly tempting arms of Spanish tennis star Feliciano Lopez. The world number 24 was spotted watching Wozniacki on a number of occasions during her run to the fourth round at last month’s Wimbledon. The Danish player fanned the flames by posting a picture to her 600k+ followers on Twitter which read:

Whether this points to a hunky Spaniard or a pair of socks remains to be seen, but it does sound as though Wozniacki is making some strides to moving on from a particularly painful and public break-up.
Following her split from McIlroy, Wozniacki made it clear she needed to get her full focus back to her career. During her relationship with the golfer, the Dane’s career appeared to suffer a slide, slipping from the top of the world rankings and failing to reach a grand slam semi-final since the 2011 US Open. Currently 15th in the world rankings, Wozniacki did show glimpses of her former self at times at Wimbledon last month and will be looking to get herself back into the top-10 before the end of the year.
With two majors and the Ryder Cup still to come this year, McIlroy has plenty of golf to focus on during the rest of the year. After a promising return to form this year, the 25-year old will be desperate to put his problems behind him and win back some fans with his performances on the course. While McIlroy is still regarded as one of the world’s best players, his reputation has undoubtedly been tarnished over the past few months and he’ll be hoping to win his way back into people’s affections for his performances between now and the rest of the year.
