2. Nilüfer Yanya – Miss Universe
Sade, Kelis and Elastica might sound like a disparate bunch but Nilüfer Yanya evokes them all on her immaculate and immersive debut.
Sometimes dead-eyed and disinterested, Yanya is also not afraid to allow a vulnerability to seep into the texture of her songs and this is a record that will hold up over time and reveal yet more and more of itself.
