Has Christmas come early? Square Enix has really spoiled us with a horde of new Final Fantasy announcements, much to the delight of fans of one of the most ingenious and best-selling video game franchises in the world.
Firstly, Final Fantasy Type-0 is now due to come to the rest of the world in a HD re-master for the PS4 and Xbox One, after it was originally released only in Japan in 2011 much to the dismay of fans of the series. It’s been a long time coming but we now know that the safety of the world of Orience will be in our hands.
Final Fantasy Agito, also set in the same universe, is set to arrive on iOS and Android devices, with some new key features including character customisation and player choice which will affect the way the game’s plot develops. No release dates have been announced yet, but it’s comforting to restless minds that they are definitely on the way.
Another treat for iPhone and Android users comes in the form of Final Fantasy VII G-Bike which is based on one of the most memorable scenes in the (commonly regarded) best game in the Final Fantasy series. Plucked from the ‘Midgar Escape’ scene in which Cloud Strife rides a motorcycle behind a truck full of his comrades defending it from other bike-riding Shinra soldiers, it will play like an authentic racing game, holding onto the RPG elements such as character growth and gigantic boss battles.
And finally a double dose of excitement for MMO fans, ‘Rogue’ and ‘Ninja’ classes are set to be added to the character selections in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn with completely new skill and armour sets. Then there was the big announcement, that the next update of A Realm Reborn will support same-sex marriage! As announced on Attitude’s website, the game didn’t previously offer this due to it being an “extremely controversial topic”. However, the legalisation of same-sex marriage has prompted action from the developers. So now buff rabbit men can marry other buff rabbit men and lovely lady Elezen can shimmy up the aisle along with their heterosexual counterparts.
