Through the amazing success of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Drag Race Allstars, an iOS game was created, aptly named RuPaul’s Drag Race: Dragopolis. It sees an evil queen named Apocalypstyk steal RuPaul’s hunky pit crew. Ru then tasks you, a fresh-faced and thick-assed queen, to defeat the menace and bring back her boys.
The gameplay is pretty simple yet slick – fiercely fun and highly-addictive. This is a side-scrolling platformer in which you jump, split and claw your way along a street full of the fabulous villain’s minions to get to the runway. There you have to claw at Apocalypstyk, to save the brief-clad beefcakes from her stilettoed clutches, all the while being cheered on by Mama Ru shouting encouraging one-liners like ‘EAT IT!’ and Shangela’s infamous ‘Halleloo!’
You also earn coins through photoshoots whilst fighting the delicious Apocalypstyk, which are then to be spent on sparkle shields to protect you from her drag-trash minions or on fabulous new wigs and ‘sequins’ dresses – to keep you looking fabulous whilst kicking ass and taking names.
Shining queens, Pandora Boxx, Manila Luzon and Yara Sofia, all dripping in eleganza, could also be purchased from the app store as add-ons with their own storylines and vocal sets to keep you fighting the fierce fight.
Now, due to the ever-growing success and popularity of the Drag Race empire, a sequel has been announced which features 45 new levels of hard werk, including ‘eloguent’ new fashion challenges. With fabulous queens like Jinkx Monsoon, Shangela and Sharon Needles included, it is shaping up to be another hit sure to knock both of your wigs off!
