Seeing as the Game of Thrones television franchise has already picked up a record amount of Emmy awards, it’s no surprise that the internet is packed with rumours regarding future series of this acclaimed fantasy drama.
But with no date set yet for either the Winds of Winter book or season seven of the TV series, it seems that it’s up to the gaming world to provide us with further excitement from the land of Westeros. And with even Hodor being a massive gaming fan, it’s time to have a look around to see what Game of Thrones video games are out there.
There’s a wide range of genres from RPGs to casino games that all take a good deal of inspiration from the TV franchise, but perhaps the biggest of the bunch has to be the Telltale Game of Thrones game.
This episodic graphic adventure game landed in 2014 and gave fans a chance to live the life of one of the Forrester clan as they sought to save the family name and overcome a bitter defeat in the War of the Five Kings.
Such was the success of the title that there’s a second season of the game already in development. But seeing as things move a little slowly in the Game of Thrones universe, there are plenty of other options to keep us busy.
One of the simpler Game of Thrones spin-offs has to be the Westeros-themed slots game that can be found at Betway. This allows you to spin the reels of the Baratheon, Lannister, Stark and Targaryen houses in a bid to match the Game of Thrones symbols on fifteen lines.
But for something completely different, Game of Thrones Ascent offers a great strategy game that can be played via Facebook on a web browser. This uses a simple point-and-click interface but when played against friends, or even in week-long cooperative events, it quickly becomes almost as complicated as the tangled plots of the TV show!
And just in case you were still looking for further Game of Thrones entertainment, it’s worthwhile mentioning that Bigpoint Studios are currently working on a Game of Thrones MMORPG that should hopefully be out at some point before the whole story has concluded.
So with strategy games, RPG offerings and casino adaptations of this epic fantasy drama, it’s clear that Game of Thrones is slowly taking over the gaming universe!
