Honey Dijon, Black Girl Magic
For decades now the ‘DJ as artist with featured guests’ album has been hard to pull off. It’s usually a mixed bag with a few hits and a lot of failed navel-gazing and repetitive beats. Honey Dijon may not bring her most famous friends and collaborators along for the ride (hey Beyoncé, hey Madonna!), but she does incorporate scene stars in such an effective and exciting way that any doubts are left at the door, Honey.
