Director James Gunn celebrated the first day of shooting for Guardians of Galaxy 2 by sharing an official set photo of baby Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Dax the Destroyer, Gamora and Peter Quill/Star-Lord.
Writing on Facebook, Gunn said, ‘The last few days around here with him and our other new cast members, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris Sullivan, have been some of the best of my life. I never thought anyone was missing from our island of misfit toys, but now that these folks are here there feels like there was. We’ll have more surprises for you in the coming months. But, for now, this will have to do.’
For Valentine’s Day, Gunn had previously posted a cheeky image of Groot and Rocket the Raccoon which some fans had seen as an LGBT-friendly statement.
Guardians of Galaxy 2 will feature Kurt Russell, with rumours suggesting he will play Star-Lord’s father.
Marvel’s Guardians of Galaxy 2 is due to hit cinemas on 5 May 2017.
