Thickening hair products are something which have really took off in the male hairdressing world. Many products claim to give your hair a new lease of life, but which one’s actually do?
Nicky Clarke Volume Shampoo and Conditioner – RRP £13.00 each – Available from: nickyclarke.com
Nicky Clarke is a name that people recognise and trust. The Volume shampoo and conditioner definitely makes you see why. Let’s look at each product separately. The shampoo contains keratin amino acids and hyrdrolyzed silk to give the hair more volume and leaves the hair appearing thicker. The conditioner helps by coating the hair with many ingredients including Cyperus Oil to encourage shine and promote thickness. After using this my hair felt fuller, shinier and felt incredibly soft.
Original&Mineral Fine Intellect Shampoo and Conditioner – RRP £19.00 – Available from Net-a-Porter and Selfridges
Originating from Australia Original&Mineral have already made a name for themselves in the organic and natural world of beauty products. Using ingredients such as jojoba seed oil and firming lilly this shampoo and conditioner is great for those that have thinner hair due to it being damaged.
The Atonic Thickening Spritz is also great for those that blow dry or use a lot of heat on their hair as it contains aloe vera which retains shine. By far this is my favourite thickening product. It smells absolutely gorgeous – think a fruity mango juice whilst sunbathing in Barbados except you’re having a double vodka orange down Southend, we can all pretend right?
All in all, this is a company which have very good products and ethics and they should be celebrated.
Lee Stafford Thickening Range – prices start from £7.49 – Available from Boots store and Boots online
Lee Stafford has a very good reputation however I have never tried their products before with a fear that they wouldn’t live up to the hype. The Thickening range featuring a shampoo, conditioner, treatment and leave in conditioner is a nice and varied range which means at least one of the products will speak to you.
For me, the stand out product is the Hair Growth Leave-In Treatment. Infused with caffeine this stimulates the scalp promoting growth from the root to tip!
Nisim New Hair Biofactors Shampoo – RRP £19.00 – Available from www.body4real.co.uk
Perfect for those with scalp irritations the Nisim Biofactors range is free from parabens so won’t aggravate sensitive scalps! A good scalp means good hair and with this clarifying shampoo, the scalp is free from any product build-up so keeps the hair healthy, soft and thicker!
Fantastic for those that want to promote hair growth, and especially good for those that suffer with a sensitive scalp such as myself.
Tabitha James Kraan Hair Cleanser and Conditioner – RRP £22.50 – Available from www.tanithajameskraan.co.uk
Cotswolds based hair pioneer Tabitha James Kraan has specialised in organic hairdressing and organic hair products for twenty years. Taking out all the harsh chemicals from her hair range, as well as having a highly economically friendly hair salon running on 100% energy from renewable sources. Always looking at new products trying a hair cleanser instead of a shampoo was something new to me. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
The hair cleanser is great for those that wash their hair every day and is great for those that want to achieve volume. The conditioner is softening but doesn’t weigh down the hair meaning for even more volume and I found it really strengthened my hair. If an organic thickening hair routine is what you’re after then look no further.
