I do not struggle to shop. If anything, I struggle not to shop: spending a few hours spending money on clothes I don’t strictly need comes all too naturally to me. One of my talents in life is convincing myself that I really need another pair of shoes, or that investing in more leopard print would be a wise move. However, I know that not every gentleman has the same zest for consumerism that I do, which is where new online fashion personal shopping service The Chapar comes in.
Perfect for guys who don’t want to spend hours with a personal shopper, but are in dire need of the style advice, this innovative online service is the brainchild of ex-Levi president Joe Middleton. The way it works is simple: register with The Chapar, tell the website your measurements, clothing needs and they do the rest. You’ll get a call from a personal stylist who asks you all the right questions to get a good idea of your personal style and guides you through the process. Within a few days, a ‘trunk’ will be delivered to you with an edited selection of fashion that you’re bound to love. You then keep what you want to, then the rest is picked up by a courier and sent back with no fuss. The best part that there is no membership fee, and you’re only charged for items you don’t return.
As a shopping devotee and infamous control freak, I was sceptical of the idea of somebody choosing my clothes for me, and had doubts about system. However, when my trunk arrived, I was instantly proven wrong. My stylist, the lovely Hayley, picked out a fantastic selection. My personalised trunk featured brands such as Scotch and Soda, Hentsch Man and Ben Sherman, and managed to capture my classic-meets-fun aesthetic with the sporty feel of the season being present throughout. My favourite item was a complete surprise: although I hadn’t mentioned needing anything like it, Hayley threw in a gorgeous pair of black brogues from English shoemaker Loakes. They are divine.
In all, I would thoroughly recommend The Chapar for any man who is fashion conscious, but not necessarily a shopping enthusiast. For those short on time, this great customer service offered by The Chapar is sure to keep you looking sharp with the greatest of ease.
