As Graduate Fashion Week comes to a close in London, our features editor Hadley Stewart takes us through some of the highlights from this year’s shows.
This year Graduate Fashion Week returned to London’s iconic Brick Lane – home to a rich tapestry of culture, art and history – and reunited under one roof students and their tutors from across the country and beyond. With Debenhams as its headline sponsor, Graduate Fashion Week is the world’s largest showcase of BA fashion talent across 26 disciplines.
In front of audiences housing a panoply of fashion industry professionals, such as buyers, stylists, designers and journalists, this week was a unique opportunity for up-and-coming fashion creatives to put their work on display.
Whilst we’re not biased in any way, given that Vada was founded in Leeds and Manchester, it was particularly pleasing to see students from universities in the north of England getting their creations onto the catwalk.
From my front row vantage point, here are just some of the looks that caught my eye:
And who doesn’t love high waisted suit trousers paired with a cropped blazer? I know I do. A Manchester Metropolitan University student put a modern twist on this timeless wardrobe staple.
