A beautiful piece sculpted by many designers, worn by many men and pulled off by very few. I’m going to be discussing the bomber jacket today boys.

I’m not going to spell out a complete history of this iconic piece, but in short, the bomber jacket originated from the Aviation clothing board in September 1917. Although the piece was coined a flight jacket – we know it today as a bomber. Interestingly enough the jacket was made to protect, keep warm and provide flexibility to pilots during WW1.

Now we see it making the rounds at London Collections : Men as many designers showed an incredible amount of beautifully designed bomber jackets for Spring Summer 2014. With designers such as Lee Roach, Jonathan Saunders, and even Topman Design, the jacket really featured heavily on S/S ‘ 14’s runway. If you want to look trendy for next year the only word I’m going to say to you is invest.

Invest your money in a decent bomber jacket. Don’t buy cheap. They’re so worth it. They go with absolutely anything and can make any boring outfit breath fresh new fashion life. It’s so simple yet mystifying how they work. If you’re looking for examples of who to buy from here’s my top 5:

About Alex Fassam

To make myself somewhat remotely grown up I sign my name Alexander, but most refer to me as Alex. A blogger, retail enthusiast and, for my sins, a student studying at London College of Fashion. In between studying and working you may find me in Oxford street doing what I like to call "extreme shopping".
