There is something powerful in the air of fashion. Women are more concerned with looking cool and stylish than looking sexy, even though that can be the sexiest thing of all. Queen on the throne of being cool and sassy, is non other than the man repeller herself Leandra Medine. She wears designer goods, has a cute hair cut, and brought the ‘arm party’ to the forefront of fashion. If you don’t know what man repelling is :
“outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewellery that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.
–verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed.
to commit the act of repelling men
Origin:
2009-10; < repellius (ptp. of repellia to eliminate male attention), equiv. to L repel- (s. of repellix) unattractive, celibate, Paris fashion week, M.C. Hammer + -repel -ler1”

Being that she is my new obsession, when I got to BCBG for fashion week, I couldn’t help but seek a connection. Working with the BCBGMazazria team, I have met some very talented and smart people. From the PR girls, to the cute guys working the casting, there’s something extremely American and deliciously chic about the 23 company. More importantly, away from the team behind the scenes, the “BCBG girl” is one for the books. Unlike other brands with multiple lines, BCBG manages to keep the collections distinct, providing versatility and classic style. Rather than worrying about where you’re going to find the perfect top to match those pants, you will be focused on finding the cash to pay for the whole collection.
In case you haven’t caught on, BCBGMaxazria – whether they know it or not – is the perfect brand for the ultimate man repeller.
Motorcycle jackets, printed trousers, textured blazers, and fur, the girls wearing these are too effortlessly cool to stress over whether or not the crop jacket makes them look fat – which it doesn’t (because Lubov and Max are smarter than that), even though these girls are sexy enough to slip into an Herve Leger bandage dress and shut it down. So what does this mean? Who cares if BCBG works for all types of women and if the cool girls who wear it are effortlessly slaying the scene?
It means the BCBG is the new understated powerhouse of an American generation. The 600 million dollar company is big enough to influence an entire subculture of women while dressing mainstream society, yet talented enough to execute top quality garments with a thought provoking and tough-sexy-empowered-liberated-female inspired design. As women continue to gain power and influence on both social and political platforms, man repellers will continue to shed their cocoons and spread their geometrically patterned wings. That being said, they will be naturally drawn to the company that supports their aesthetic and challenges their sartorialistic intellect. BCBG will be their natural choice and the brand will continue to grow. The cycle continues.
