‘It’s amazing what a man can accomplish when he’s wearing the right dress.’ This bonmot sets the tone for what is a beautiful book revealing – in spectacular photography – the state of modern drag.

Named for the Shakespearian abbreviation dr.a.g. (used on scripts to mean ‘dressed as girl’), Christopher Logan’s gorgeous coffee table book is being re-released in an expanded new edition.

dr.a.g. the book features photography of many of the world’s most celebrated drag superstars, taken by the industry’s leading photographers, all bound in a hardback 11″ x 11″, 180-page hardback with high quality colour art throughout.

‘Drag has become a diverse form of expression that challenges, entertains, and educates by pushing boundaries, while embracing beauty, comedy and glamour,’ says the introduction, and how right that is. The strength of this book is the diversity of the queens within it.

The photos in dr.a.g. represent a range of different drag icons – each with their own way of doing drag. These include photos of the earlier generations who drew upon and satirised iconic Hollywood divas to the more contemporary drag queens who strive to be celebrities in their own right. Included are Sherry Vine, Coco Peru, Lady Bunny, Nina Flowers, Jimmy James, Chad Michaels, Raja, Joey Arias, Jackie Beat, Jeffree Star, Tyra Sanchez, Latrice Royale and Tammi Brown.

The book features particularly poignant quotations that vivify the images, plus the biographies of the queens portrayed, which bring their stories to life and provide an entrypoint into their unique drag practices.

This new edition of dr.a.g. features twenty brand new images.
