Vada in Paris: an editor’s highlights from the Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture shows

Our features editor shares his highlights from the Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture runway shows in Paris.

January in the French capital is synonymous with fashion season. It’s an opportunity for designers to showcase their latest creations, amongst an audience of celebrities, journalists and curious first-timers. And while an umbrella certainly felt like an essential accessory in Paris this past week, no amount of rain would dampen the spirit of this season’s Haute Couture Week.

The Lena Erziak show saw models walking through an archway decorated with flamingos and parrots to the sound of Bad Blood by Taylor Swift.

There was plenty of gold to go around at the Robert Abi Nader show. A crown with matching body armour certainly caught the audience’s eye, along with an iconic wedding gown.

Finally, it was the swaying of oversized trousers by Nursah that slowed down the tempo of the catwalk, all the while making it clear that your skinny jeans are officially out this season.
