Sod the Christmas presents, the best part of the season is enjoying a tipple and calling it ‘festive’ or ‘merry’. I’d like to be festive every day of the year, please…
But, in the interests of serving up something seasonal, we recommend these quick and easy Christmas cocktail recipes from Warner Edwards – featuring our favourite tipple of all, although one less traditionally associated with Christmas: gin.
Hedgerow Martini
Warner Edwards’ gins take inspiration from all over Falls Farm and sometimes the cocktails follow suit. The abundance of sloes, blackberries and raspberries that grow around the hedgerows would inevitably find their way into our story and this cocktail is the result.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin
- 10ml Crème de mure
- 20ml Sugar syrup
- 20ml Lemon juice
- 4 Fresh raspberries
Garnish: Raspberries.
Glassware: Coupette.
Method: Shake all ingredients together and pour into coupette glass.
Sloesecco
This is an alternative way to serve your Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin – very popular if, like us, you love the fizz. We’re pleased with the results, with the raspberry puree adding a touch of sweetness to this winter classic.
Ingredients:
- 35ml Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin
- 100ml Prosecco
- 10ml Sugar syrup (optional)
- 10ml Raspberry puree (optional)
Garnish: Orange twist.
Glassware: Coupette.
Method: Stir all ingredients (excluding the Prosecco) together and pour into coupette glass.
Gin Genie
Another cocktail that resulted from an evening of experimenting and trying to find alternative flavours to pair with the Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin. We started with the classic, gin, lemon and sugar base and decided to give strawberry a try. The result was magical, hence the name.
Ingredients:
- 40ml Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin
- 10ml Warner Edwards Harrington Dry Gin
- 10ml Strawberry puree
- 25ml Lemon juice
- 10ml Sugar syrup
Garnish: Blackberry.
Glassware: Martini.
Method: Shake all ingredients together with ice and pour into martini glass.
Gamble
Sometimes, you need that cocktail to wow your friends. Essentially a twist on the Negroni, here the addition of the sugar and the sweetness of the plum bitters make this one more suitable for a slightly sweeter tooth. A great drink to have pre-dinner.
Ingredients:
- 35ml Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin
- 10ml Warner Edwards Harrington Dry Gin
- 10ml Campari
- 25ml Fresh pink grapefruit juice
- 3 Dashes of plum bitters (optional)
- 10ml Sugar syrup
Garnish: Pink grapefruit peel.
Glassware: Old fashioned.
Method: Stir all ingredients together and pour over crushed ice.
