The Lowry launches festive Afternoon Tea complete with an edible snowman

Adam Lowe

Manchester favourite destination Lowry Hotel has revealed its luxury Christmas afternoon tea offering, complete with chestnut macarons and a cranberry and clementine cupcake.

Forget endless Christmas dinners and paper crackers, the other upside of the festive period is all the lovely afternoon tea options you can enjoy with your chosen plus one. A British treat with a wintery theme is always popular in our household.

The special seasonal menu is served in the newly refurbished River Restaurant. For a little extra, you can get decadent champagne or a classic gin and tonic with your afternoon tea.

The finger sandwich offering features classic roast turkey with apricot stuffing, smoked salmon and watercress, Burford Brown egg and cucumber, and a Provolone with sweet vine tomato chutney.

Dessert-wise, the Christmassy delights include a chestnut and chocolate macaron, snowman meringue, fruity cranberry and clementine cupcake with pine frosting, and a spiced gingerbread cake with candied fruits.

This time-limited menu is available daily and costs £24 per person for a traditional afternoon tea or £33 with champagne or gin & tonic.
