Review: The Beech Hill Hotel & Spa, Windermere

Adam Lowe

The Beech Hill Hotel & Spa is a distinctive four-star establishment with gorgeous views overlooking tranquil Windermere. With 57 rooms and suites, there are a number of options available for all budgets, plus private balconies, access to the unique hardens and views down the hillside to the jetty.

Ours was a standard room with luxurious curtains, a comfy, sizeable bed and stylish, traditional wallpaper. The bath was an additional pleasure, allowing us to soak in cosy warmth after our day of walking round the lakes and hills.

The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, updating the oldest part of the hotel to match the newer rooms, but thankfully the disruption is minimal (there was a sign mentioning the renovations, and besides a couple of corridors at the back of the hotel, nothing seemed amiss).

The hotel also has an exceptional restaurant, Burlington’s, which we reviewed earlier this month.

For those looking for some seasonal pampering, the hotel’s Lakeview Spa offers both an indoor pool and an outdoor vitality spa pool in the scented garden. There are two spa treatment rooms, a Himalayan sauna, and an aromatic steam room allowing you to unwind. Come New Year, it will also make the perfect destination for a January detox.

Christmas offer

Stay one night in a Classic Lake View room on a B&B basis and to get your Christmas spirits flowing we’ll include a complimentary ‘Sparkly Surprise’, mulled wine and mince pies on your arrival, a dining voucher worth £15 for Burlington’s and a late check-out.

And don’t forget you can relax and soothe your aching muscles after all your festive experiences in our award winning Lakeview Spa.

If you think one night will not be enough to fit everything in then stay two nights on this Fabulous Festive Escape and we’ll include a complimentary Lakes Cruise for two so you can fully soak up the “Christmas in the Lake District” experience.

Offer is for mid-week stays between 1 December 2016 & 22 December 2016 and is subject to availability and terms & exclusions apply. Other room types and weekends are available for an additional supplement.
