Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real in Fuerteventura is a stylish five-star hotel with stunning seaside views, gorgeous architecture and excellent facilities.

The hotel’s SPA Bahía Vital is beautifully rendered in white tiles and tranquil moods. Locally sourced aloe vera is used in treatments to ensure guests get the very best the island can offer.

The spa has panoramic views of the beachfront and the nearby Los Lobos Island. Its state-of-the-art facilities include a hydrotherapy circuit with spa jets, water-beds, massage seats with hydro jets, swan neck jets, whirlpools, a shower temple, ice cold plunge pool, foot spas, a sauna and a steam room, as well as an invigorating ice fountain to refresh the skin.

Guests have free access to the indoor pool and facilities, although treatments are very reasonably priced if you fancy relaxing with a massage. You could easily spend hours here.

We were lucky enough to try the Sabai massage, which was so deeply relaxing, I fell into a meditative state for the duration. The fresh aloe vera and calming music was enough to release all my tight muscles and make my worries drift away

The on-site gym is usually pretty quiet, so you can hop straight on your machine of choice and work out to your heart’s content. This will please any gym bunnies among us who feel guilty about all the exquisite food on offer on the grounds.

Outside the gym is an often overlooked sun terrace. It’s a real hidden gem, where you can bask in the sun while reading a book or listening to music, and can take a dip in the cool jacuzzi nearby to cool down at any time. It is less busy here than in the main pool area, and it also gets more sun than anywhere else (though please do protect your skin!).

Though the main pool is still a great place to kick back and relax, should you wish. The palm trees give you plenty of shade and privacy if you want to keep out of the sun, too.

Meanwhile, beyond the spa and gym, Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real’s beach club and lounge, Coco Bahía, offers yoga and pilates classes on the ‘chill-out’ terrace overlooking the sea. With minimalist purple and white décor, comfy Balinese beds and relaxing ambient music, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a freshly prepared healthy snack including salads and energising smoothies post-workout.
