Everybody loves going on holiday – most of us plan our whole year around that one perfect week or two away. They’re even better when you go with the one you love. You remind one another that you are totally capable of incredible things and blow away life’s cobwebs. For 2017, here are my top picks for couples holidays you’ll love.
1. City break in Budapest
For urban loving couples Budapest is arguably the most beautiful city in Eastern Europe. It boasts wonderful medieval and art noveau buildings, an elaborate Opera House, romantic restaurants with gypsy music, buzzy bars and atmospheric cafés with exquisite pastries and cakes. Dubbed the Paris of the East, its wide boulevards are indeed reminiscent of those in the French capital and romance is everywhere. And if its romance you want then you absolutely must do the Budapest Danube River Dinner Cruise while you’re there. Spend two hours sightseeing from the water and feast on a Hungarian buffet dinner and drinks!
2. Spa break in Bali
Ever inducive to romance, couples holidaying in Bali will love taking time out for some rest and relaxation at one of Bali’s top spas – Spa at Maya. If you’re looking for a first impression that will absolutely blow your partner away, then the spa at Maya Ubud is for you. After travelling down to the property’s lush valley by elevator, you are greeted by the sounds of trickling streams and dappled sunlight shining through the cocoon of surrounding forest. Follow a wooden walkway to your private treatment villa, complete with a day bed for you to recline on and take in the startlingly beautiful location.
3. Tennis holiday in Dubai
For the active couple, what could be better than a tennis holiday? Spend the days keeping fit and healthy, pumping adrenaline and building stamina, then enjoy an evening relaxing in a luxury spa safe in the knowledge that you well and truly deserve it. The Westin is a sophisticated luxury resort located in a tranquil setting on the pristine Dubai shoreline. It has an extensive range of state of the art amenities and an exceptionally high standard of accommodation. They tailor make tennis holidays for couples all year round – providing the perfect blend of tennis and relaxation.
4. Vintage Festival in Barossa
Couples who love all things fresh food and wine will love taking a few days out to experience the best of the Barossa region with the Barossa Vintage Festival. A celebration of the rich heritage and gastronomic pleasures of this renowned region in South Australia, the Barossa Vintage Festival will be running from 19-23 April. Couples will be spoilt for choice on what they can see and do (and eat) as they can experience their pick of 95 events over 5 days. From grand feasts to market bazaars, long table lunches and even gastronomic golf! There’s a little something for everyone.
5. Tree house hotel in Tanzania
Feel like branching out on your next holiday? Going out on a limb? This incredible treehouse hotel offers unique and romantic travel experiences – as long as you’re not afraid of heights! Lake Manyara Tree Lodge in Tanzania is the only lodge of any kind in the Lake Manyara National Park. The property takes its cue from the area’s famous tree-climbing lions. Ten romantic treehouse suites (not accessible by lions!) are cradled in the boughs of an ancient mahogany forest. It overlooks the lake that Ernest Hemingway called, ‘The loveliest that I had seen in Africa’. Every luxurious suite is designed to look like it’s floating on a sea of green.
