Christmas markets are a staple in our towns and cities across the UK, with London in particular hosting many across its boroughs. Winter Wonderland, and the decorations throughout Covent Garden and Oxford Street being some of the bigger festive draws but there are many smaller and newer market and pop-up alternatives. We’ve selected some below and why they are worth a visit.
Kylie Christmas Pop Up at Battersea Power Station
The Christmas Kylie pop-up shop is open this weekend only, closing tomorrow (7-December). It is located on the upper ground floor of the North Atrium in Battersea Power Station. The pop-up will offer fans one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts including limited edition vinyl, signed test pressings, limited edition signed lithographs and an exclusive range of Kylie Christmas merchandise.
Open: until tomorrow (7-December) 12pm – 6pm.
Yuletide Yard at Flat Iron Square
Close to Borough Market is Flat Iron Square, which this festive period has been transformed into Yuletide Yard – a sparkling winter wonderland. In partnership with Camden Town Brewery, there is a micro-pub ‘The Three Jingle Bells’ – a bookable experience on Design My Night, a cocktail bar, resident food traders and live entertainment from Santa SpeedQuizzing and Christmas Karaoke.

Lillet Terrace at The Lighterman
In the heart of Granary Square, within the Kings Cross development is the Lighterman, which has partnered with alcohol brand Lillet to launch their Lillet Winter Terrace. This is a cosy space to the left-hand side as you enter the venue. It features signature Lillet cocktails including the Lillet Spritz, Winterberry, and Lillet Negroni. While you’re in the area, consider popping into the Kings Cross market, just a moment’s walk away.

Festive Fridays at Maltby Street Market
Beneath the atmospheric railway arches of Bermondsey is Maltby Street Market, which has been open since 2010. Maltby Street Market is an incredible foodie scene. The Festive Friday events include mulled tipples, festive food and live choirs.
Open: Fridays (12-December and 19-December) 5:30pm – 9pm
Winter by the River by London Bridge City
On the bank of the River Thames by Tower Bridge, explore rows of charming boutique market stalls featuring artisanal crafts, gifts and delicious treats. There is also a curling pop-up, and new for this year The Glasshouse – a two-storey venue in which to enjoy the views, drinks and hot food, and live music from Wednesdays to Sundays.

Greenwich Christmas Markets
Greenwich Market has had a festive makeover. It includes over 200 artisan maker stalls and stored to shop for unique gifts, vintage finds, festive toys and a lot of sweet (and savoury) treats including mulled wine, mince pies, gingerbread, artisan chocolates, seasonal doughnuts, local cheeses and Christmas puddings.
