Up to 175,000 people are set to descend upon the St. Pete/Clearwater area in Florida for the annual St. Pete Pride this June.
The St. Pete Pride Weekend features a number of key events with an exciting line-up of performers, entertainers and speakers.
27/82 Concert
For the first time, St. Pete Pride presents this free, open air concert in a private lot on the corner of Central Avenue and 26th Street. Headlining the concert is the stunning Alex Newell from Glee (featured above).
Named the latitude/longitude of St. Petersburg, 27/82 is a fundraising concert with proceeds supporting Tampa Bay community organizations via the St. Pete Pride Community Grants Program.
Alex Newell, of course, is one of our favourite faces from Glee. He won a regular spot on the show after winning The Glee Project. Playing Wade ‘Unique’ Adams, a black trans teen with an incadescent talent.
Sponsors include Bud Lite and Absolut Vodka, while sales from drinks benefit the St. Pete Pride Community Grants Program – a lovely decision that should be standard practice at all prides.
Grand Central District’s newest restaurant Urban Comfort will be serving up their own, unique style of comfort food.
The Parade
The St. Pete Pride Parade is not only Tampa Bay’s largest LGBT pride celebration, it is also the only night-time parade in the whole of Florida – and what’s not to love about that?
The parade is held at the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood and Grand Central District with more than 150 organisations and 200,000 people present.
The LGBT Pride Parade will be held Saturday 27 June. The Saturday night Block Party begins at 5pm, with the Parade kicking off at Sunset. You can purchase Glamstand tickets online.
Street Fest
The Festival has extended to cover an entire city block, after demand last year topped all expectations. There will be a range of exhibitors and stalls, as well as plenty of St. Pete pride! The Street Fest kicks off at 11am on 28 June and runs until 6pm. You can see the full line-up of exhibitors at the St. Pete Pride website.
Other key events
The Stonewall Reception takes place tonight at 7pm in the Museum of Fine Arts, while tomorrow’s Pride in Fashion show takes place at Macy’s Tyrone Square from 6pm.
