Sue Sanders, Emeritus Professor of Harvey Milk Institute, is founder of LGBT History Month and chairperson of Schools OUT UK. An active LGBT rights campaigner for over 40 years, Sue has challenged oppression in the public and voluntary sectors through a variety of roles, and continues to do so.

Schools OUT UK is an educational charity that began life as The Gay Teachers Association in 1974. As part of the vital work the charity undertakes, it provides a support network, campaigns on LGBT issues within education, researches curriculum development on LGBT issues, and works towards equality, safety and visibility in education for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. It also provides free resources for use in schools via the website The Classroom.

Schools OUT UK has also led to the development of two initiatives that play a vital part in highlighting the importance of LGBTQ histories, and aim to promote equality and diversity and free resources for the benefit of the public.
