In an unusual turn of events, we have learned that nearly a year to the day following the discovery of the late Cory Monteith in his hotel room, the boyfriend of Glee alumnus Becca Tobin has also been found dead in his hotel in Philadelphia on Thursday.
Matt Bendik was the boyfriend of Becca Tobin who played mean girl Kitty Wilde in series 4 and 5 of Glee. The pair were said to have been out on the town together on Wednesday night with no indication of any problems or concerns that would lead to Bendik’s sudden death.
The late night club owner’s body was found in his hotel by a maid on Thursday afternoon. Paramedics were summoned but the 35 year-old was pronounced dead on the scene. Philadelphia Police Department are treating this as a sudden-death and have so far found no reason to believe foul play or suicide were motivations in this death.
More startling is the closeness of the death to the anniversary of the death of Cory Monteith, who was similarly found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver on 13 July 2013. The actor who had played the role of Finn Hudson on Glee had taken a fatal overdose and was discovered by hotel staff around noon.
Developments on this story are ongoing with no comment from Tobin herself regarding the loss.
