Passengers at Eurotunnel’s Folkestone terminal had an intimate audience with the royals – or so they thought. A look-a-like HM Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip kept everyone guessing as they walked their pet corgi around the grounds. ‘HM The Queen’ and ‘The Duke of Edinburgh’ (complete with corgi) accompanied the Gay Classic Car Group in a trip to Le Touquet for a special lunch to celebrate the Royal birthday.

The group came prepared for the royal occasion with Union Jack bunting and flags adorning the cars and with the drivers and passengers dressed accordingly. Cars in the group included a Jenson Interceptor, A Wolseley Six, Lotus Elan, Jaguar XJS, TVR Tamsin and more.

‘Eurotunnel Le Shuttle paid tribute to HM The Queen’s 90th birthday in a fun way which engaged our passengers and also formed a part of an organised trip by The Gay Classic Car Group. It was great to see people looking twice to see if they were the real Royals or not, the corgi also added to the show as the perfect accessory and enjoyed himself with our pet-friendly areas. It was a great festive atmosphere ahead as a tribute to our reigning Monarch,’ said Jo Willacy, Eurotunnel Commercial Director.

‘The Gay Classic Car Group was delighted to celebrate HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday with a cavalcade of almost 30 classic cars of all ages for a fun-filled day to France courtesy of Eurotunnel Le Shuttle,’ said Brian Palmer, Chair of the Club.
