It was reported by Deadline earlier this week that HBO Max has bought the rights to Camp by L C Rosen, which we reviewed very highly.
Producing Camp, the film, is Dan jinks, with the script being worked on by Kit Williamson, who is known for creating, directing and starring in the Emmy-nominated series Eastsiders. It was revealed today that Willam was nominated for an Emmy for Eastsiders, becoming the first drag performer nominated in an acting category.
Set at an inclusive LGBTQ+ summer camp, Camp features our protagonist, Randell, who is usually known for being effeminate theatre gay Randy who enjoys glittery nail polish and performing at the final show at the end of the summer. He has had a crush on Hudson for years and vows to make him his boyfriend by butching it up and pretending to be Del, a straighter acting version of himself, to woo him. Antics ensue.
Camp, the book, will be released 28 May 2020 in the UK from Penguin Random House UK.
Camp is available to pre-order on Amazon now.
