1- Tensnake ft. Syron – Mainline

This week’s list is headed by the second major single from German DJ Tensnake who rose to fame last year with his retro sounding debut ‘Coma Cat’. This time around he’s brought in vocals from one of Radio 1’s ‘Ones to Watch’, Londoner, Syron. Looks like Christina Aguilera – Sounds like Angie Brown, in what is one of the most exciting dance tracks of the year. Tensnake has shrugged at the Calvin Harris/David Guetta sound of today and given us something that feels like a lost track from 1994. Anyone who’s into their 90’s house will be pleasantly surprised by this.

2- Hot Natured ft. Ali Love – Benediction

(Audio Only)

UK production duo, Hot Natured have received growing interest over the last few years with their old skool house sound and their latest offering ‘Benediction’ has been building up some real momentum and even recently broke into the UK top 40. This one has a feel of an 80’s Pet Shop Boys record with some stunning vocals from the velvety toned Ali Love, this is the perfect track for enjoying a cocktail at the bar before heading to the club.

3- Pink – Try

I’ve never been the greatest advocate of Pink, often dismissing her as ‘for lesbians only’. However, this, and her last single ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’ has rekindled some interest for me, especially after seeing what a great entertainer she is on her recent performances at the MTV Awards and the X Factor. Slowing it down for the second single, Pink leaves you without any doubt in her vocal abilities on this power ballad which rivals all of her contemporaries.

4- Bootyluv – Black Widow

Back with their first single in over 3 years, Cherise & Nadia, better known as Bootyluv and formerly 2/5 of R&B supergroup, Big Brovaz have been a mainstay on the gay circuit ever since they first caught our attention on the super-catchy ‘Boogie2Nite’ in 2006. This track treats us to about 5 different choruses as well as a throbbing baseline and an ample dose of girl power. It’s up there with their best so far.

5- Disclosure ft. Sam Smith – Latch

This one has been bubbling away on the UK Charts for the past month and after slowly working its way through clubs like a quiet storm, it’s becoming quite a favourite. The mysterious Sam Smith takes the vocal, and sparks rumours through the blogosphere that he could in fact be an alias of ‘Black & Gold’s’ Sam Sparro. I really think they might be onto something as it’s quite uncanny. If this doesn’t hit you on the first listen, do persist, because once it captures you, it’s well worth the wait.
