#WATCH: Sigourney Weaver returns as Aliens’ Ripley in sketch

In preparation for Samantha Bee’s Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner TBS special, the science fiction icon Sigourney Weaver returned to her Aliens role.

Dressed as Lt. Ellen Ripley as she appears in James Cameron’s sequel to Alien, Weaver reenacts the scene where she discovers the sole survivor of LV-426, Newt.

What’s most enjoyable about the clip is that this is the first time Weaver has returned to the role in many years. The fourth film, Alien: Resurrection hit cinemas back in 1997. Despite having a bold new idea for the character of Ripley, and being written by Joss Whedon, the film had mixed reviews. Everyone, however, praised Weaver’s nuanced am striking performance as the human-alien hybrid.

Enjoy!
