Robyn & Royksopp – Monument
I’ve been a fan of Robyn since I came across her music in 2011. That’s why I was excited to see she had a new music video. ‘Monument’ is a collaboration between Robyn and Royksopp for Do It Again, a short album released in May. The song has a slow and haunting yet seductive vibe that will remind you of a ticking time bomb. The song keeps you on the edge of your seat as you wait and listen to see if the song speeds up, gets louder, or goes in a different direction entirely. Adding the finishing touch is Robyn, whose voice perfectly complements the melody. This song is definitely worth a listen, and if you do not like this type of music, try listening to it while watching the video. Trust me when I say you won’t regret it.
FKA Twigs – Pendulum
I’ve always heard about FKA Twigs, but I never really gave her music a chance. So, I decided to start with her most recent single, ‘Pendulum’. The song, which is the second single off of her LP1 album, provides a chilling and somber picture of love unrequited. In the song, she sings about how the effort she puts in to her relationship never seems to be enough for her significant other. Her voice is light and high pitched which works well with this kind of song. However, it is also what makes the song a little hard to get through if you’re not a dedicated fan. I’d recommend that you listen to the song for yourself, but personally, this is not my cup of tea.
