Saturday night, Hilton Manchester Deansgate hosted the North West glitterati for its 11th annual Star Ball event.
The VIPs in attendance included Jorgie Porter, Kym Marsh, Anthony Joshua and Tony Bellew, while Marilya Charalambides, Gabriella Cilmi, DNA, Jason Isaacs and Friends and Smooth Radio DJ Jo Lloyd provided musical entertainment.
We were lucky to attend the fundraising event for the second year in a row. The Star Ball generates dosh for Hilton’s own children’s charity the DM Thomas Foundation and a different guest charity each year. This year’s charitable partner was the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation.
Attendees were treated to a five-star meal and were able to take part in an exciting charity auction hosted by John Cameron, auctioneer to the Prince’s Trust, Bargain Hunt and Cash in the Attic. And boy, did Manchester show its generosity – raising over £1.5 million for good causes. Prizes included-a two night stay in Monte Carlo, a two-night stay on a luxury yacht, and a table for 10 at Ladies Day, Royal Ascot.
The Hilton brand’s DM Thomas Foundation aims to transform the lives of young disadvantaged people through a wide range of projects. The Yianis Christodoulou Foundation also helps to empower children and their families to help them reach their full potential.
Hilton Manchester general manager, John McLaughlin, said: ‘It’s always a pleasure to host such a fantastic fundraising event at our venue. We welcomed some famous faces and friends of the Hilton to help raise an incredible amount for two brilliant charities. Another brilliant Star Ball!’
