We’ve been eagerly awaiting Corinne Bailey Rae’s new album, The Heart Speaks in Whispers, in the six years since her last album, The Sea. The album is out tomorrow but to give you a taste, you can check out the video for lead track ‘Green Aphrodisiac‘.
‘I absolutely loved making this video,’ said Corinne. ‘The song “Green Aphrodisiac” is about intoxicating spring days and nights, I wrote it with Paris and Amber Strother from KING. It is about sensuality and connecting with the body and how we are part of nature so I was so excited to make a video where I was working with two incredible dancers to create a piece where we were moving like one organism, one flower turning to the sun. The choreographer gave us some beautiful movement and I really got lost in it. It is my first experiment with contemporary dance after dancing ballet for years as a child, but certainly not my last.’
This, her third album, was recorded at her studio in Leeds and in Los Angeles. It’s co-produced by Corinne with Steve Brown, who collaborated with the Yorkshire singer her on her critically acclaimed second album The Sea. Corinne has also been added to the lineups for both Glastonbury and V Festivals, alongside previously announced performances at British Summer Time – as special guest of Stevie Wonder with Pharrell – Cornbury Festival and on Lionel Richie’s arena tour of the UK.
