Welcome to Throwback Thursday. Every week, we’ll be bringing you a blast from the past to put a smile on your face. From old school TV, to ad campaigns from days gone by, the history of fashion is littered with potential comedy gold.
In this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday, we commemorate the underappreciated 1990’s cinematic gem that is Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. If you haven’t seen it, open Netflix now and watch immediately: this shit is essential. RMHSR (catchy acronym) starts off as one of those films that you expect to be pretty standard B list drivel, but then quickly turns into the best road trip/buddy movie of all time. Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are party girl best friends living in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, who take a trip to their 10th high school reunion. Hilarity ensues, as do the fabulously tacky outfits. Long story short, while this movie may not be a masterpiece of modern cinema, it does showcase late 90’s fashion at it’s best. Oh, and there’s a very intense dance scene set to a Cyndi Lauper song. It is beyond.
