Greater Fort Lauderdale is gearing up for the very first Pride of the Americas Festival! Taking place from 21-26 April 2020, the festival will bring people from all over the world to the area.

Greater Fort Lauderdale has the world’s first tourist board with a dedicated LGBT+ department and has the highest concentration of same-sex couples in the entire country. It was also the first destination in the world to create a transgender marketing campaign. Over 1.5 million LGBT+ visitors make their way to Greater Fort Lauderdale annually. The area is considered the LGBT+ capital of Florida and is home to the world’s first AIDS museum.

Over 350,000 travellers are expected to be a part of the sex-day celebrations which focus on the LGBT+ community, advocacy and education. As well as the usual fun and parties, the festival will also host a number of conferences and symposiums focusing on business, travel, health and conservation programmes.

Pride of the Americas aims to bring attention to global inequalities – such as those in nearby Latin America and the Caribbean – and unite to improve education and understanding on LGBT+ rights worldwide.

Festival goers can also enjoy social events throughout the destination including parades, arts festivals, beach partys, A-list entertainment, sunset concerts, top DJs, drag brunches and fashion shows modelled by male, female, transgender and drag models.
