Tove Lo – Habits (Hippie Sabotage Remix)
Sweden has given us some great music over the years: ABBA, Ace of Base, Robyn. And now we have Tove Lo – singer/songwriter. This song is ramped up a bit in the remix, and it’s a perfectly sad, drunk, messy-makeup tune.
Yumi Matsutoya – Hikōki-gumo
Also known as the beautiful song from Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises. Delicate, beautiful and fragile as a paper plane. Store it on your iPod, wait ’til Spring and then go sit on top of a flowery hill. Bliss.
Stromae – Papaoutai (ft. Angel Haze)
What’s better than a Belgian rapper? A Belgian rapper with Angel Haze of course! My favourite song of his but with an insanely good new verse from the chronically underrated A.H.
Beyonce – Mine (ft. Drake)
Don’t think I’ve yet recovered from hearing this for the first time. This tune from Beyonce’s surprise album last year is super cool, sexy and weirdly vulnerable. Is there anything Beyonce can’t do? (No.)
Zebra Katz – Ima Read (ft. Njena Reddd Foxxx)
I saw Zebra Katz live a year or two ago at Soup Kitchen in Manchester, and there were about 15 people there (+10 hipster points to me!) which is criminal. His videos are dark, his costumes are insane and his music is so cool you can only watch it with 14 other people.
