Hello cowboy, welcome to Moonshine Saloon in the Wild West of London (actually the Kings Road, Chelsea). This immersive drinking experience by Inventive Productions provides an alternative cocktail evening out. So, of course we at Vada had to try this out for ourselves.
Guests to Moonshine Saloon are asked to bring a bottle of their favourite spirit (35cl preferred, between 2 people), which the barkeep will then turn into a variety of cocktails for them to sip. On entering Moonshine Saloon, the first stop is at the ‘local tailor’, who will measure guests up for Stetson Hats and Cowboy gear, ensuring they don’t attract attention in the West for the wrong reasons. Once they look the part, The King of The Moonshiners will grant guests exclusive access into the shadiest spirit making business in town i.e. being taken downstairs to the Saloon.
Guests are then seated within an interactive story, which unfolds around them, including actors chatting to them as though actual guests in this fantasy western bar. They are encouraged to try their luck at card and dice games, exchange tales of life in the West. All the while, the barman will take your smuggled Moonshine (BYOB of spirit) and produce personalised cocktails throughout the evening. The story involves being interrogated by the local Sheriff – if asked, you don’t know who is bringing in Moonshine. The event ends – we won’t give away the full plot of course – with guests being escorted to the upstairs ‘general store’ for a final refreshment before leaving the Wild West.
The interior of the Moonshine is authentically presented, and actors staying in character during the approximate hour and half performance. Interacting with the actors, guests will find they need to spend half their time trying to learn and speak the Wild West lingo. So whether going for a date with a twist, or with a gaggle of friends who love dressing up as much as performing, Moonshine Saloon is definitely a worthwhile experience. It is running for a limited 4-month run (until September 2018).
